awhile ago i read an article in national geographic where they called a mountain range in vietnam (i think) the SPINE OF THE WORLD. that title was awesome and has stuck with me for a bit. after reading that i did a bunch of paintings focusing on mountains. the top one is 24 x 36 inches and was done with acrylics. it came after the bottom image, a 4 ft x 4 ft piece that started out as a painting of wolves and lambs. there were a group of wolves bringing down a sheep. i tried it from a bunch of different angles and the image gradually became more and more abstracted until the wool of the lamb turned into clouds and i abandoned the whole wolf attack idea. the piece is executed in oil and was the first time i ever used liquin. the darker lines are accented by my blood. i had injured my thumb some how and took some time to drip little specks on all the lines.Sunday, January 18, 2009
